01 Nov November 15th, National Philanthropy Day
Imagine sitting in a room with hundreds of professionals who do nothing but help other people and make a difference in the world, one person at a time. This is how I spent my lunch today at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon in Cary, NC, thanks to Bill Peck from Organizational Solutions who invited me as his guest. Sitting amongst these people was humbling and invigorating all at the same time. In one breath, I thought I do not do enough and the next breath, I could not wait to do more and hope that it would be extraordinary. As my thoughts drifted for a few moments I began to realize that no one sets out to help millions upon millions of people right from the word ‘go’. In most cases, it is one simple act of kindness that touches one person that gets the ball rolling. And wait, that is what Pay it Forward Fertility Foundation has done. The idea was to help one couple with the dream of having a child. And here we are today: our first couple to have a baby was proud mom and dad, Amy and Stacy Metz, then we have parents to be, DeAndrea and Terrance, who are expecting ‘Christopher’ in early January, and then Kelly and David, who are expecting a little girl in early February. The idea of helping one couple has led to three couples whose lives will be forever changed, and not to mention all their family friends who can celebrate with them. So, yes, we have done some extraordinary things, and can hardly wait to do more; because can’t we all do more?
